Subject: BOVINE PRODUCTION 

Course Overview

This methodological course provides an in-depth study of the bovine industry. It aims to equip students with the fundamental and technical knowledge required for herd management, whether oriented towards dairy or beef production.

The curriculum covers general zootechnics, the physiological specifics of growth and lactation, and the factors influencing productivity.

Special emphasis is placed on economic realities and the specific context of cattle farming in Algeria.  

Learning Objectives Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:  Identify major cattle breeds and master methods for assessing exterior anatomy (barymetry).  

Distinguish between different production systems (dairy, suckler/beef, mixed) and their technical management.  Analyze growth factors and evaluate carcass quality

Understand the physiology of lactation and the importance of milk recording.  

Comprehend the economic challenges of the sector and the current situation of cattle breeding in Algeria.
